A Heritage Landmark...The internationally acclaimed Christchurch Town Hall at 86 Kilmore Street and Colombo Street, Christchurch, constructed between 1968 and 1972 to the designs of the architectural partnership of Miles Warren and Maurice Mahoney, is an exceptional example of a performing arts complex designed in the Brutalist style associated with post World War Two British modernism.
Nestled on the banks of the Avon River, this heritage-listed venue has inspired guests and performers alike, for generations. It contains an auditorium of ground breaking architectural and acoustic design significance that is recognised internationally for the excellence of its architectural and acoustic qualities. It is recognised as a design of international significance in the scientific literature on the acoustic design of concert halls and its design has stood the test of time. In An EmergencyFirst Aid
A first aid kit is available at the registration desk. Fire Evacuation Evacuation is essential even if you cannot see or locate the fire. The continuous sound of fire alarms will be activated to notify all occupants to vacate the building immediately. Egress is available from all floors and areas in the building via the marked emergency exits or by the main staircase. The building is also fitted with an automatic sprinkler system, manual fire alarms, fire hose reels and extinguishers on each floor.
