Invitation to Sponsor

Pain is the most common reason people seek healthcare and the leading cause of disability in the world, affecting more than 30% of people worldwide and accounting for at least 5% of total disability-adjusted life years in New Zealand. Costs of living with persistent pain in AoNZ have been estimated to be ~$20,000 per person or $15billion/year. Sadly medicines and surgery are not able to bring resolution of pain for many.

The New Zealand Pain Society is a chapter of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP).The IASP was founded in 1973.  It is the world’s largest multidisciplinary organisation that is focussed specifically on pain research and treatment.  IASP brings together scientists, clinicians, healthcare providers, and policy makers to stimulate and support the study of pain and to translate that knowledge into improved pain relief worldwide.

The IASP currently has more than 6500 members worldwide and the NZPS is the New Zealand Chapter of this organisation. The Purposes of the New Zealand Pain Society are exclusively educational, scientific and charitable in nature:
  • To improve the management of patients with acute and persistent pain.
  • To bring together basic scientists, health professionals and others who have an interest in pain research and management.
  • To foster and encourage research into pain mechanisms and pain syndromes.
  • To promote education and training in the field of pain.
  • To promote and facilitate the dissemination of new information in the field of pain.

We invite your organisation to participate as a sponsor and/or exhibitor at the NZ Pain Society'sAnnual Scientific Meeting that is hosted throughout New Zealand, and will be held at The Christchurch Town Hall, Ōtautahi, Christchurch.

We will have pre-conference Workshops on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th March 2026, with the Annual Scientific Meeting on Friday 20th – Saturday 21st March 2026.

The conference is commonly attended by 200 to 250 delegates from all over the country with some overseas speakers and relies on having a range of sponsors, as, in order to be as inclusive as possible, the conference delegate fee does not cover all the costs involved.

The ASM has a vital role in linking local and international practitioners in the pain arena. We invite you to join us, and help connect and come together to enhance our collective ability to understand and manage pain.
