Contemporary Evidence on Learning and Learning Styles

Learning is a complex, and multi-factorial phenomenon. To try to describe and predict how different activities will facilitate or hinder learning, contemporary learning theories have been developed which build on previous learning theory. In this session we will briefly consider several contemporary learning theories and the evidence for and against. Of more specific interest to those who teach are theories of learning design. We will look at two of these, Learning Styles and Universal Design for Learning, and consider their pros and cons.
