Dr Sam McBride is a Psychiatrist/Addiction Specialist working as Clinical Lead in Capital Coast Health Addiction Services. The service provides a range of interventions including opioid substitution; medication and structured therapies for people with addiction and co-morbid physical and mental health disorders; and withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs. Interests include how society regulates drugs and the public health implications of these decisions.
When Opioid Use Becomes a Substance Use Disorder and How to Approach?
This talk is intended to conceptualise the way in which people use opioids other than for management of nocioceptive pain; reduce the likelihood of one developing; and practical steps to take when a use disorder develops.
